Adult (Internal Medicine – Surgical – Coronary) Intensive Care is our hospital unit where patients with cardiovascular disorders and life-threatening conditions related to internal diseases, as well as patients requiring follow-up after surgical procedures, are continuously monitored.
The general adult intensive care unit, equipped with mechanical ventilators, cardiac monitors, intravenous lines, feeding tubes, nasogastric tubes, suction pumps, drains and catheters, primarily provides healthcare services to individuals with life-threatening conditions due to serious illnesses and injuries using life support equipment to ensure proper functioning of vital functions, while monitoring the pre- and post-surgical process. Patients are commonly transferred to this unit following severe burns, serious trauma, respiratory failure and organ transplant procedures; advanced spinal surgery and cardiothoracic operations.
In the adult intensive care unit where each patient is closely monitored through bedside monitors, blood pressure, respiratory rate, body temperature, pulse, hourly bleeding amount, urine output, arterial blood gas analysis and blood oxygen levels are continuously controlled with the help of state-of-the-art imaging methods; even minimal changes detected during these measurements are reported to specialists. Hemofiltration can also be applied to patients with kidney failure.
The adult intensive care unit, organized with the principle of responding to patients’ urgent needs as quickly as possible, aims for continuous monitoring and support of vital functions. Therefore, the diagnosis and treatment process is completed with a multidisciplinary team consisting of all physicians and healthcare personnel working within Esencan Hospital. Additionally, the clinical laboratory and imaging center work simultaneously with the intensive care unit, providing support regarding the course of treatment with advanced monitoring tools such as computed tomography (CT), X-ray, magnetic resonance (MR) and ultrasonography when needed.
In the internal medicine, surgical, coronary intensive care unit where patients who are highly vulnerable to infections receive treatment under maximum hygiene rules, a special visitor policy is implemented to ensure patient welfare; accordingly, visits are conducted within specific hours by the patient’s first-degree relatives. In this way, patients are protected from external infections.
In addition to medical professionals with intensive care nursing certification, specialist and resident physicians as well as auxiliary healthcare personnel are employed in the intensive care unit where all patients are monitored with advanced techniques; healthcare services are provided 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
In addition to these, treatment of serious health problems requiring rapid medical intervention such as diabetic coma, neurological and cardiac infarction, stroke, acute organ failure is also carried out in this unit.
