Medical Units
Anesthesiology is a medical specialty that deals with the controlled reduction of sensation and awareness to prevent patients from feeling pain and suffering before, during, and after surgery. Resuscitation forms the second pillar of this comprehensive pain management and care process; resuscitation, which refers to the reactivation of the respiratory and circulatory systems that have been slowed down by anesthetic drugs, plays a crucial role in preventing potential complications before, during, and after procedures.
The anesthesiology and resuscitation unit is home to specialists who have graduated from the relevant departments of medical schools. From operations that can be described as “minimal” to serious surgeries such as organ transplantation, specialists guide advanced anesthesiology resuscitation services in all surgical procedures performed at Esencan Hospital. Additionally, the unit provides comprehensive pain management for problems arising from chronic diseases and various ailments.
Within the scope of the anesthesiology and resuscitation unit’s work, patients and their relatives are informed in detail about the anesthesia procedure before surgery; detailed information is provided about anesthesia types and risk factors, if any. The type and dosage of anesthesia to be used is determined by anesthesiology and resuscitation unit specialists following various medical tests, depending on the operation the patient will undergo and their general health condition.
Specialists working in the unit are present during the surgical procedure together with the operating surgeon; they closely monitor the patient’s vital functions. Through this monitoring, the vascular and airway passages are kept continuously open; heat and fluid loss that may develop in the body is prevented. Upon completion of the surgery, the anesthesiology and resuscitation specialist works together with the surgical team to perform various physiological and functional assessments during the process that includes terminating anesthesia and removing the patient from the operating room.
The unit, consisting of medical professionals trained in anesthesiology and resuscitation, provides diagnosis, treatment, and observation services 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
