Medical Units
Urology is a medical specialty focused on the diagnosis and treatment of medical conditions related to the urinary tract and reproductive organs. This field is divided into subspecialties including endourology, laparoscopic, neurourology, andrology, reconstructive urology, urologic oncology, and female urology, and encompasses the treatment of problems related to organs such as kidneys, ureters, adrenal glands, bladder, urethra, and male reproductive system components including testis, epididymis, vas deferens, seminal vesicles, prostate, and penis. Within Esencan Hospital, healthcare services are provided in all the subspecialties of urology mentioned above.
In the urology unit of Esencan Hospital, where the diagnosis and treatment of diseases such as Peyronie’s disease, overactive bladder, soft tissue sarcoma, small bowel prolapse, hyperoxaluria and oxalosis, as well as urinary system cancers and all types of kidney disorders are performed, physicians who have achieved specialist status by receiving postgraduate training in the relevant field after 6 years of medical school graduation, along with medical technicians and nurses who have also worked in the same field, are employed.
In the unit, especially in cases of urinary system cancer diagnosis, interdisciplinary work is carried out with oncologists, nephrologists, and radiotherapists alongside urologists. Additionally, physicians working in the department collaborate with gynecologists providing healthcare services in different units within Esencan Hospital and endocrinologists dealing with hormonal disorders to decide on the most appropriate treatment for the patient. At this stage, the patient is also informed in detail about what kind of expectations there are from the treatment to be performed.
In addition, in the urology unit of Esencan Hospital, communication is maintained with the central laboratory located within the hospital and equipped with modern devices in order to perform a flawless diagnosis of the disease. At this stage, the following tests are performed in the laboratory environment upon the physician’s request: Kruger morphology, spermogram, antigen test, respiratory tract pathogens multiplex PCR test, sexually transmitted pathogens multiplex PCR test, HPV (Human Papilloma Virus) multiplex PCR test, HCV genotyping, complete blood count, ferritin, SHBG (Sex Hormone Binding Globulin), and blood PSA test (for prostate cancer diagnosis).
In addition to these tests, modern imaging methods such as Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), Ultrasound (Urinary USG, Doppler USG, Transrectal USG), Voiding Cystourethrography (VCUG), and Computed Tomography (CT) are also used for the most accurate diagnosis.
